Ecological Society of America Meeting
I’m attending the annual meeting of the Ecological Society of America and Canadian Society for Ecology and Evolution. At the conference, I’m presenting a talk about regime shifts in rocky intertidal communities driven by a marine heatwave and sea star wasting disease. I’m also moderating a panel on the drivers of change in coastal community structure and function, which I co-organized with my collaborator Ricardo Scrosati.

Nature Matters Seminar
As part of a seminar series hosted by the Lewis and Clark National Historical Park and North Coast Watershed Association, I describe research that I’m conducting with other ecologists from Oregon State University to assess the resilience of rocky intertidal ecosystems in the Pacific Northwest. ESA Graduate Student Policy Award
I was selected as one of the recipients of the Katherine S. McCarter Graduate Student Policy Award from the Ecological Society of America (ESA). This award provides graduate students with the opportunity to receive policy and communication training before they meet lawmakers. Read more coverage from ESA and from OSU.

Ecological Society of America Meeting
I’m presenting about my research on rocky intertidal community succession at the Ecological Society of America Meeting. The COVID-19 pandemic prevents us from meeting in person, so all posters, plenaries, and presentations are virtual.

Nova Scotia Visit
For my ongoing collaboration with Dr. Ricardo Scrosati, I’m visiting his Marine Ecology Lab for several weeks of field work and data analysis in Nova Scotia. We are collecting data on shore slopes and intertidal widths at nine field sites as part of our benthic-pelagic coupling project. I’m also presenting a seminar for the Biology Department at St. FX. NSF Graduate Research Fellowship
I was awarded a Graduate Research Fellowship from the National Science Foundation. This fellowship provides three years of financial support, tuition remission, and research funds for outstanding graduate students from around the country. Only first and second year graduate students are eligible to apply. Click here to read the press release from OSU.
